Fatigue in the Railway Industry: Safety and Human Factors

Abstract

This paper reviews the main developments related to fatigue analysis in the U.S. railroad transportation industry. Identifying the causes and elements associated with fatigue and establishing specific mitigation strategies is critical to ensure the safe operation of rail systems. Some of these strategies are discussed comprehensively throughout this article.
