Abstract
This paper discusses the importance of English language skills in aeronautical transport communications. It also addresses the regulatory aspect by describing the different levels of operational English established by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO). Finally, the problem is illustrated through the analysis of an event that occurred in 2006 at John F. Kennedy Airport (JFK) in New York.
