Abstract
During the 1970s, the aviation industry incorporated the human factors safety strategy along with training, coaching and procedureing of non-technical skills (NTS) in order to reduce major accidents and improve its safety standards. This set of procedures was named Crew Resource Management (CRM). The aim of this paper is to synthetically expose the origin of the human factors strategy and CRM in aviation; to go through its implementation in the oil and gas industry from IOGP documents 501 and 502; and, finally, to present the WOCRM initiative carried out in YPF.
