Abstract

How can we arrange the elements of a complex system in a simple, methodical, repetitive and general way, how can we visualize the interactions to see the emergent properties of the rail transport system, is there only one way to look for or manage these properties? The proposal of this article does not look for responsible parties, causes, contributing factors, or precursors. Rather, the analysis focuses on desired and undesired emergent properties of the system that affect operational safety in transportation.
