Abstract

In the National Senate (Argentina), there is a bill that proposes expanding the competencies of the Transportation Safety Board (JST, Argentina) to include pipelines and other energy transport systems in all their forms and sources. The proposal, which has already gained parliamentary status, seeks to amend Law No. 27514, which established the JST and defines its competencies across all modes of freight and passenger transportation under national jurisdiction. For Senator Antonio José Rodas from Chaco, the author of the bill, incidents in energy transportation should be investigated by a multimodal technical agency like the JST, not only because of their impact on operational safety, but also, and especially, on the environment.
